The Step By Step Guide To Building A Tiny Home
Are you a little confused about how to build a tiny house? Have you found that it isn't quite the same as getting a regular home?
That's why we have created this simple step by step outline for you to follow before, during and after your build. Our only goal is to make your life more simple, and it starts with an easy to do build experience that we have created specifically for people who want to go tiny.

Before We Start Working Together
2. Choose Your Design
Each build is carefully curated to meet our clients needs. Find one you like as a starting point, and we customize from there.
3.Understand Your Budget
Our tiny homes typically range from the $165,000.00 to $220,000.00 depending on what you include.
4. Prepare Your Finances
How are you going to pay for your tiny? Get your financial resources prepared for your purchase.
5. Book A Phone Call
Ready to go tiny? It's time to talk to our team about making your Teacup Tiny Home come to life.
6. Start Working With Us
All you need is $5,000.00 +gst CAN. to unlock the magic when you start working with us.
- Gain access to The Teacup Academy an online training portal where we teach our clients the exact steps to plan, build, set up/ receive & maintain their home well into the future.
- This portal is the key to excellent expectation & communication, especially in the planning & possession day milestones.
With this access, our clients feel more confident venturing into tiny living because they understand how everything works, the support of our team and they have a greater opportunity to protect their investment by maintaining it properly season after season, year after year.
7. Onboarding Assessment
WE CAN’T BUILD YOU THE PERFECT TINY HOME UNLESS WE GET TO KNOW YOU FIRST.
It's time to tell us all your needs, wants & goals and together we decide the specifics you will need in your build to so you can make your tiny dreams come true.
Then, we use our fully integrated project management app to build your customized tiny home specification and proposal. This is the same app that will give you live schedule updates, photos & full transparency with what is going on in your build.
8. Purchase Agreement
Once we have decided on everything you want included in your build, we finalize everything in a purchase agreement. This secures how much your tiny home will cost in a fixed price contract, which means the cost of your build is set in place regardless of the time or resources it takes to complete it. You wont be getting a big hefty bill at the end.
For tiny home RVs or Park Models we will order your trailer after this step.
A 40% deposit is due at this time, and we start ordering everything for your tiny.
For tiny homes on foundations, we start the engineering phase and a draw payment will be outlined for these next steps.
9. Colour Selections
Use our informative colour selection guides and get help from our professional design team to choose personalized exterior & interior colour selections that are a reflection of you and your character.
The process is super simple and we can guide you through the steps, or can do it for you!
After your colours are finalized we begin ordering materials for your tiny home so we can get straight to building without delays in production.
10. Construction
See live, up-to-date photos, and build schedules while we build your tiny house. Login to your very own portal to see exactly what has happened in your tiny, and learn how it is built with full transparency.
Enjoy walk-throughs with our team at certain checkpoints including the orientation walk-through.
The second 40% deposit is due during this phase.
11. Completion & Delivery
As your tiny is being built, use The Teacup Academy to learn how to prepare for your delivery day. Once your build is complete, we have a thorough video walk-through orientation to teach you how to use your home.
Delivery is then scheduled upon completion and your tiny home will be sent to you for site installation.
We require the last 20% payment of your new home before it is picked up or delivered!
12. Warranty
Want to know a secret? We have very few defects in our builds because we believe in doing things right. But, we certainly aren't perfect.
The project management portal also acts as a direct messaging tool to ask questions, submit warranty requests and get in touch with the Teacup team whenever you need to.
Our tiny home RVs and Park Models come with a 1- year builder warranty on defects and deficiencies. Appliances and materials also come with their own manufacturers warranties which can range from 1 year to limited lifetime.
Tiny homes on foundations will follow the mandatory warranty programs as they apply in each province, including 1-2-5 year warranty services.
13. Maintenance
We learned early on that with proper education and training, our clients were able to take better care of their tiny homes and had a better overall living experience. This is one of the main reasons why we created The Teacup Academy.
After your move-in day, use The Teacup Academy to make sure you're using your home correctly, and maintaining it seasonally.
