Getting Paid to Vacation - How a Teacup Tiny Cottage Could Be the Investment Property Youā€™ve Always Dreamed Of

May 17, 2022

With Spring just around the corner, our team at Teacup can’t wait to get back out in the world! It’s been a minute since any of us have had a proper vacation, and we are determined to make the most of this year by leaning into the vacation season like never before!

There are many ways to invest in real estate, but buy-and-hold investing is one of the most common styles. Buy-and-hold is a term that can be applied to many types of investment, but in the real estate world, it means purchasing a property that you (likely) rent out and hang on to as a means of building long-term wealth. A buy-and-hold property that is rented out part-time is called a short-term rental (STR) or vacation rental. And did you know that you can often make more money from vacation rentals than you could from having a year-round tenant? It’s true!

So what makes a Teacup tiny cottage so well-suited for this type of investment? Well, many reasons! First of all, compared to the average price of a traditional house, you will be paying less for an investment that could be paying you well into retirement.

Secondly, it’s much faster to build a tiny cottage than to go through the process of building a traditional foundation home. And thirdly, Teacup tiny cottages can be placed on some existing properties as ADU units, meaning that you can benefit from what is known in the investment world as a “value add.” Don’t have land? That’s not (necessarily) a problem! Tiny cottages allow the opportunity for structure owners and landowners to partner together for mutual benefit. That’s right- you could get a vacation home and benefit from an investment while giving the same thing to another member of your community! How cool is that?!

If you already invest in real estate, you know the ropes, and a Teacup tiny cottage could be a fun way to add a cutting-edge piece to your portfolio! Haven’t invested yet? No worries! There is no time like the present, and a Teacup tiny cottage could be just the ‘in’ you were looking for. And on that note, let us tell you a little more about our Teacup models and what features you and your guests will have to enjoy!

Whoever is enjoying their stay, our team is confident that you will find a Teacup tiny cottage to be an incredible place to reconnect. What makes us so confident? Well, the fact that we’ve made all of our design choices with the specific intent of fostering emotional connection. Here’s how this plays out in The Phoenix.

If you look carefully at the pictures of The Phoenix model, you’ll notice a step down from the kitchen to the living room. This encourages you (or your guests!) to sink more deeply into the evening as time goes on. In fact, the whole house has been built with the intention to create flow.

If you step into the living room of The Phoenix model, you’ll notice that there is space for a fireplace upgrade option.  This is something we’ve included so as to encourage maximum bonding.  We know that nothing takes the conversation to the next level quite like the glow of a fireplace!

When it comes to taking things to the next level, we’d be remiss if we forgot to mention The Margo! This is another model that shines as a vacation rental.

Like The Phoenix, The Margo also has a downstairs bedroom.  Our favorite part of The Margo, however, is the  “wow factor.” Wow factor comes from those show-stopper features that make your vacation rental listing jump off the page. Let us give you some examples.

Nothing entices a guest like the promise of dining al fresco! And in The Margo, all you have to do is open the window in front of the live edge breakfast bar to enjoy indoor/outdoor dining!

Do you want to give your guests (or yourself!) a cozy night in? Perfect. The Margo can offer that too! Like The Phoenix, the electric fireplace upgrade is an option in this model as well, and it’s a fantastic way to add both warmth and atmosphere to your time away!

You didn’t think we were done, did you? We know that nothing sells a vacation rental quite like the phrase “soaking tub,” and yes, that one you see in The Margo is full-sized!

Ah, stars. Here at Teacup, when we think of stars, we think of wishes, and our wish is that everyone has enough.

Enough quiet to reconnect.

Enough money to pursue passion.

Enough retirement income to offer peace of mind.

And enough resources to share joy with others.

Could a Teacup vacation home be the investment property that makes your wishes come true? If so, you can find us here.

Until then,

-Jen
